Real wood flooring comes with a plethora of benefits for your home or office. It is beautiful, elegant, durable, long-lasting, and more. However, even premium quality, high-end, well-maintained real wood floors start experiencing wear and tear, some issues, flaws and imperfections over time. This is absolutely natural, however, it does not mean you have to b ok with the situation. Professional treatment and services can really make a difference and renovate every wooden floor and this is what we would like to illustrate with this recent wood floor repair and sanding project we undertook. We carefully inspected this condition of the wooden floor and concluded that an in-depth repair and good sanding will bring this floor back to its initial glory and beauty.
When it comes to bigger wood floor renovation projects, there are a lot of things that must be done. Some of the wooden floors we work on are very worn down and old, therefore they must be approached carefully and with a high level of professionalism, experience and knowledge in order to achieve the best possible results. One of the main challenges coming with very worn and damaged wooden floors comes from the fact that some wooden floorboards are too distressed and they need to be replaced.
As with this project, we lift and replace only the wooden floorboards that cannot be renovated with sanding and refinishing. We do our best to find the perfect or very similar matches to the existing floor when choosing new floorboards to replace the damaged ones with. This guarantees that at the end of the service, the floor will look uniform and sleek.
What we did?
Once the damaged floorboards were replaced, we treated the gaps between the floorboards. Gap filling is a very essential part of renovation service. It improves the stability, durability, insulation and appearance of every wooden floor. When gaps between floorboards are too large to be filled with resin and sawdust only, we use high-quality pine slivers. Once the floor is sanded and refinished, it is impossible to tell where the pine slivers are located, so you don’t have to worry about the look of your floor.
Once we have finished fixing the main issues experienced by this floor, we continued sanding the floor and the wooden stairs. Sanding is an essential service designed to remove the old finish and all imperfections from wooden surfaces such as flooring and stairs. Once the floor and stairs are carefully sanded until we achieve flawless smoothness and no imperfections are left, we continued with re-oiling the wooden floor. Oil finishes are a common choice for homeowners. They do not only give the floor a natural look but also nourish and protect it.
The Bottom Line
Professional services and in-depth maintenance are very important for every wooden floor. They not only improve the appearance of older wooden floors and stairs. Such regular treatments ensure that wooden flooring is well-protected from a number of issues and help every wooden floor last longer and be more durable.
