There are times and situations when wood floors need a bit more care and attention than a simple and regular maintenance routine. As it is with this project we have recently finished, due to a number of factors wood floors can start experiencing wear and tear and struggling with some more serious issues. However, this is not something that should worry you, if you are in the same situation with your beloved hardwood floor.
Once in the reliable and experienced hands of knowledgeable professionals, even the most worn, aged, and distressed wood floors can be brought back to their initial beauty, durability, and glory. At the start of this project, we evaluated a floor that has definitely seen its better days. While the finish wasn’t been refreshed for a long time and a lot of scratches and imperfections appeared on the surface, it was many serious issues that some of the floorboards are very damaged and this significantly decreased the stability and lasting power of the floor, but also its safety. So here is how we carried on with the project.
First things first, we tackled the floorboards that are too damaged to stay. After a thorough assessment of the floor’s condition, we’ve detected the distressed floorboards and then replaced them with new ones. Now, every specialist in our field can tell you that this is a more complex job than what it sounds. The main challenge comes from the fact that it is not easy to find new floorboards that are an exact match to the already existing ones. Since wood is a natural material, every floorboard is different than the next one, but we’ve managed to do our best and found some very similar matches. With the help of sanding and refinishing of the floor’s surface, we’ve managed to perfectly blend the new floorboards with the old ones and the result is a very uniform and smooth surface that looks beautiful.
Additionally, sanding removed all the imperfections on the surface along with the old finish. An additional staining service was performed in order to add some intensiveness to the original colour of the floor. Once we’ve applied the lacquer finish, the floor finally looked as elegant and beautiful as it used to in the days of its installation. Finally, we’ve tackled down the stairs too. By sanding and sealing them, we’ve made sure they don’t simply look beautiful, but also can offer impressive durability, hard-wearing and long-lasting power. It is needless to say how impressed our clients are with the results, now you can check them out too!
