Parquet floors are super beautiful and attractive because of the parquet patterns, However, this also makes them pretty challenging to install, repair, sand, and generally take care of. When it comes to parquet floor installation like the one we worked on for this project, you really need the professional work of experienced specialists.
Not all people working in the wood flooring industry and field will be able to provide you with high-quality parquet floor installation as the process requires craftsmanship, attention to detail and dedication. Renovating and re-sanding parquet floors can be even more challenging as there is always a high risk of sanding against the grain and causing damage and wear and tear to the floor.
What we did?
We have had two main lines of work – parquet floor installation and parquet floor renovation. As we have mentioned, parquet floor installation requires a careful job, attention to detail and professional performance so asymmetrical and beautiful parquet pattern in created throughout the room.
We prepared the subfloor, making sure it is dry, clean, and levelled and we installed a layer of plywood first as an underlay. The underlay acts like additional insulation, ensures more comfort and a cushioning effect, reduces noise and has moisture-proof properties. Next, the parquet floor can be fitted on top. Flooring accessories were added once we finished installing the wooden parquet blocks and this ensured the sleek and finished look of the new floor.
For this project the choice of finish is lacquer. Lacquer finishes are a great option for parquet floors – they add elegance and style to this classic style of wood flooring and ensure lasting and hard-wearing protection. Gap filling was part of the renovation process too. Over time gaps may appear between the floorboards and weaken the insulation of the floor as well as its durability. Therefore, these gaps must be treated and filled with a mix of resin and wood dust that improves the stability and condition of the floor.
