What was the job?

This project we have recently finished is a good example of a large-scale project with many sub-projects under its umbrella. In such cases, every member of the team must perform their part perfectly, so we can all make sure that in the end results will be perfect and we will be able to keep the promises we have given to our clients at the beginning. For this project, part of our team was focused on subfloor preparation and installation of a new parquet floor and all flooring accessories needed for a finished look, while the rest of the team was working on renovating and refinishing an existing parquet floor on-site.

What we did?

As we have already mentioned, this project we have separated into two main parts – parquet floor installation and parquet floor renovation. We have sent our best and most experienced wood floor fitting specialists to work on the first part. Before the start of every wood floor installation project, professionals will carefully inspect the condition of the subfloor once the old floor covering is lifted and disposed. We never start a wood floor fitting project before we make sure the subfloor is in pristine condition. In order to ensure a durable, hard-wearing, stable and lasting flooring structure, the condition of the subfloor is essential, even crucial. Therefore, we make sure the subfloor is completely dry, completely clean and completely level. In this case, the main problem was with the dampness of the subfloor.

In case the subfloor is left damp, this will lead to rotting of the floorboards sooner or later while the excess moisture trapped under them will make the expand and contract, which will lead to further damages. Soon your wooden floor will be destroyed and you will find yourself purchasing a new one. No one wants to spend all the money on buying a new wooden floor every few years, therefore, we treat the subfloor accordingly in order to make sure it is dry enough so we can continue with the installation. In this case, we have installed a damp-proofing underlayment membrane before the parquet wooden blocks, which works as a barrier between the floorboards and the moisture. Next, we continue with the fitting of the parquet floor. Parquet floors installation is a process that requires a lot of attention to detail and craftsmanship. Parquet patterns are very beautiful, but pretty complex to achieve perfect symmetry. Therefore, the help of our experienced, professional team is required.

The other part of our professional team was sent to work on the repair and renovation of an existing parquet floor in the same place. After they have inspected the condition of the floor, they have recommended all the services and repairs that must be performed, so the floor can feel and look amazing as when it was just installed. These included gap filling, which improved the integral stability and insulation of the floor, sanding, which strips off the old finish and dirt from the surface of the floor, along with surface imperfections like scratches, marks and stains, and, of course, refinishing the floor. In this case, our clients opted for an oil finish. Oil finishes get more and more popular these days because they enhance the natural beauty of the wooden floor and do not require sanding before re-application.

Our two professional teams worked together on this major project and they were able to do their best, bring a lot of professionalism, dedication and commitment to success to the project, achieve perfect results and have a stunning new parquet floor installed, while one older, but still beautiful and durable parquet floor, was renovated, refinished and re-sanded to perfection.
