How It Works

It takes about two minutes. Open WhatsApp, click our chat link, and send us what we need to see. That's it. No forms, no callbacks, no "we'll get someone to contact you". Just a real conversation with someone who knows flooring.

What to Send Us

We don't need anything fancy. A quick walkthrough video from your phone camera is perfect. Here's what helps us give you an accurate price:

• A video of you walking around the floor. Walk at a normal pace through each room that needs work. Pan the camera slowly across the floor surface so we can see the condition, the finish, any damage or wear. Doesn't need to be cinematic. Phone camera, normal lighting, just let us see what we're working with.
• Or up the stairs. If it's stair sanding you need, walk the camera up slowly. Pause on any treads that are particularly worn or damaged. The nosings, the risers, any spindles that need attention. Slow is genuinely better here. We're looking at the wood, not testing your fitness.
• Dimensions, if you have them. If you know the rough size of the rooms, that's a bonus. Even "about 4 by 5 metres" is useful. But don't worry if you haven't measured. We can estimate from the video and we're pretty good at it after 20 years of looking at floors.
• Tell us what you'd like. Sanding and lacquering? Oil finish? A colour change? New boards fitted? Or maybe you're not sure and want advice. All fine. Just tell us what you're thinking and we'll work with that.

What Happens Next

We watch your video. Properly watch it, not glance at it. One of our surveyors reviews the footage and puts together an estimate based on what they see: the floor type, condition, room sizes, and what you've asked for.

On weekdays, you'll have your estimate back within 24 hours. Often it's the same day. If we need clarification on anything, we'll message you back on WhatsApp to ask. No phone tag, no chasing.

If the job is straightforward, the estimate we send you on WhatsApp will be very close to the final price. For larger or more complex projects, we might still recommend a site visit before confirming, but you'll already know the ballpark before we get there.

What Kind of Jobs Can We Quote This Way?

Most of them, honestly. The WhatsApp estimate works well for:

The only jobs where we'd typically need to visit first are those with structural concerns: badly damaged subfloors, suspected damp, or properties where the floor type isn't clear from video. But even then, the WhatsApp chat gets us 80% of the way before we arrive.

Tips for a Good Video

You don't need a tripod or good lighting. But a few things make a real difference to the accuracy of our estimate:

• Landscape mode. Hold your phone sideways. It gives us a wider view of the room and we can see more of the floor in each frame.
• Walk slowly. We need to pause and look at specific areas. If the video is a blur of motion, we'll probably ask you to reshoot. A steady, slow walk through each room is ideal.
• Show the edges. The skirting boards, doorways, and transitions between rooms are where the tricky bits are. Pan down to the edges so we can see what we're dealing with.
• Include close-ups of any damage. Scratches, stains, water marks, board splits, gaps between boards. A five-second close-up tells us more than a paragraph of description.
• Natural light helps. If you can, open the curtains. Overhead lights create shadows that hide surface detail. Daylight gives us the clearest picture of the floor condition.

Average time from your video to our estimate: 4-6 hours during the working week. Some are quicker if the job is simple. The longest we take is 24 hours, and that's usually because we want to double-check pricing on specific materials.

What About Accuracy?

Fair question. A video estimate isn't the same as measuring every room with a laser. But we've been doing this long enough to read a floor from footage. Our WhatsApp estimates typically come within 10% of the final on-site price. For straightforward sanding jobs in standard-sized rooms, it's often spot-on.
