Project Details
A few years ago white washed floors were considered old and outdated. Right now they are making a comeback and people began to request them. What we have on our hands is one such job – granting a wooden floor the whitewashed look.
The thing about white washed floors is that in order to preserve their original colour, they must be protected by a high quality (and usually more expensive) water-based lacquer which does not turn yellow with age. Additionally, you must know that some types of wood won’t take the stain well or will need slight tone alterations in order to achieve the desired effect.
Other than that, the procedure was pretty standard. We visited the address of our client and checked the condition of his floorboards. The floor did not need any repairs but the surface felt worn. We sanded the boards and filled the gaps between them. When we finished with the buffing, the surface was already looking much better.
All that was left to do was apply a few coats of Bona Traffic HD in order to make everything look as if taken from a flooring magazine. Took us two days to finish the job but we had a lot of fun doing it.
