Project Details
After a careful and considerate inspection of the subfloor, our team decided it would be for the best to install 12 mm plywood sheets over the floorboards. This is done in order to guarantee the durability and stability of the entire flooring construction. The oak parquet flooring was even left for a couple of days in the property, in order to acclimatise, thus ensuring there would be no immediate shrinking/expanding after being fit.
The beautiful rustic oak parquet blocks were unfinished, so our team had to finish them as part of the project. Before applying the finish, though, the surface of the wood has to be smooth and level. Here is where floor sanding comes into play. By stripping a couple of millimetres off the top of the planks, the wood's pores open up, allowing for the finish to penetrate deeper and provide long-lasting protection. The remains from the sanding procedure - the sawdust, was later on used by our fitters to fill any gaps that resulted from the installation and sanding procedures. Coupled with this procedure came the restoration of different types of flooring - mosaic fingers in the hallway, pine floorboards, as well as a solid parquet. None of them posed any difficulty for our team of seasoned flooring veterans and the job was completed in the shortest time possible, as to avoid too much of a disturbance to the day-to-day life of the property's owner.
