Restoration Of Basket Weave Parquet Flooring

Often the homeowners have no idea what type of flooring is hiding under the old carpet when the time for removal comes they find there a remarkable real wood flooring. Similar was the case in this property. Our clients could see the potential of this floor to impress even behind the neglected surface. These parquet blocks are fit in the classical basket weave pattern. As you can see, in order to achieve an even more intriguing result, they have mixed two different colours in the design - oak (brighter) with walnut blocks (darker). The final result is remarkable!

When our team arrived, we’ve inspected the area thoroughly for major problems. In the end, we’ve had to refit some particular areas plus some of the parquet blocks were in need of repair or replacement.

Once this task was completed, we have started with the actual job – the sanding. As you can see after a few rows with the belt sander, the beautiful nature of this oak parquet flooring was revealed. After the first row with 24 grit, we’ve continued with finer sandpaper grit, that removed the marks from the rough sanding. After the area was clean and levelled, our team could continue with the buffing machine, that made the surface smooth and ready for finishing. The product we've used to seal the wood is "Junckers HP Commercial" - it's water-based and very durable lacquer.
