Project Details
The first step in every wood floor fitting project is the preparation. Our case was no exception – this step included measuring the moisture and humidity levels, if they are higher than acceptable we refuse to install the wood. According to the conditions we measure, we give our 2-year service guarantee. The wood material was suitable for this house, so we could proceed with the installation, once the blocks were left for a few days to acclimatize.
As you can see from the images, the pattern our clients chose was a herringbone with a double border around. This is one of the most popular ways to fit parquet flooring. The oak blocks in the rustic grade were installed overplied subfloor. Our team also had to trim off two of the doors and their frames, to adjust their height with the new floor level. The parquet blocks were unfinished so it had to be done on-site. The refinishing process is something our teams have vast experience with. First, the top layer of the blocks must be sanded, so they can soak better the finish. After 3 rows of sanding, the sawdust remains are collected and mixed with a resin filler, the new compound is used to fill the gaps between the blocks, which is going to insulate the construction and make it more stable. The next step is buffing – this process is making the surface smooth, and removes even if there are any small imperfections left. The last step is to apply the finish, this process is really important because it determines how the flooring is actually going to look. In this case, our clients had some doubts between hard wax-oil or lacquer, in the end, they decided to go with a hardwearing lacquer from Junckers. The entire project took 4 days to our team to be completed.
