Project Details
The engineered wood is among the most preferred flooring options nowadays for a reason. It has the remarkable look of the real wood but without its main disadvantage – the moisture vulnerability. Due to the unique structure with multiple timber layers crossed below the surface, this product has a high resistance to humidity. The following photos are from one of the projects completed in North London. Generally, the task was to remove the existing flooring, which included mostly carpets, and to fit the new one. The new floor was supplied by our company with a discount of 10%. This is a special option available with our Supply & Fit offer.
The whole project was completed in 2 days. We didn’t have to waste any time with furniture removal because our clients had taken care of this. When we arrived, we could start with the lifting and disposal of the old carpet. As you can see from one of the photos before we install the boards we’ve measured the humidity levels with a damp metre. When the levels are too high, we try to find the reason causing this and fix it, before we lay down the wood. There is no wood product that can handle the higher percentage of moisture or water leak from a pipe, even the engineered one. In this house, the environment was friendly, so we could continue with the preparation part. The next step was to lay down the underlay: ‘Duralay Timbermate Silentfloor Gold’ – a product with outstanding insulation qualities. The joint system of the engineered wood floor was tongue and groove, with a thickness of 14mm (veneer is 3mm thick). Since it was prefinished with lacquer, it was not necessary for us to do the whole refinishing process on-site.
