Herringbone Parquet Blocks Fitting with Single Border

The classical block pattern was designed to complement other traditional elements in this Paddington home and the client selected Natural (less knotty) oak in middle size and their preference for the finish was Osmo Polyx hardwax-oil and satin sheen.

Before

Laying a parquet, herringbone or other, requires some planning and preparations. It is always better to call an expert for such a task just as we were now.

After

For such a process, preparation is key. The parquet blocks require a few weeks of acclimatisation in order to make the floor more stable and less prone to movement. The subfloor also must be fully dry. As for the skirting boards, we installed them later once everything else was fitted.

We sanded the parquet in order to remove the small imperfections. Herringbone parquets are usually sanded diagonally in order to strip each side of the blocks equally and this is exactly what we did. We applied multiple coats of finish to ensure proper protection and completed the job faster than expected.
