So we always make sure to inspect the condition of the floorboards first and, if necessary, we recommend to our clients a few more additional repair and restoration treatments that guarantee strength, hard-wearing power, protection. So before continuing with staining and re-oiling this floor, we refitted and fixed down some of the floorboards that have been started to get loose and unstable. By this, we can guarantee not only the protection of the floorboards from breaking and splitting but also the overall stability of the floor.

 

Next, we filled in all the gaps between the boards, which is also very beneficial for the stability of the floor and the good insulation of the room. With time and due to everyday use, gaps may occur between the floorboards and it is important to consider a gap-filling service. In this case, some of the gaps were too wide to be filled with resin and sawdust only, this is why we also have used pine slivers. We continued with sanding the floor until brilliant smoothness and evenness of the surface and then we applied the colour of choice, finishing the project up by applying a couple of layers of oil finish.
