Floor Boards Sanding, Varnishing and Staining

FlooringFirst! is a company with vast experience in the refurbishing of old wooden floors, during the years of hard working we have become experts in our craft. The following project is an example of our work, which includes:

The condition of the flooring was not good at all, there were huge holes between the boards, the surface had many imperfections like scratches, scuffs and dents. Some of the planks were beyond repair, so they had to be replaced. For this purpose we stock seasoned boards, that will match the colour of the existing flooring, their width is 160mm. Once this was done, our team started with the floor sanding. This process happens in few stages with different sandpaper grits, that will level boards. After the old finishing layer was removed, our team applied samples from the different staining products on a small area of freshly sanded wood. This is how our clients ended up with the medium tones of light oak stain.

The next step after the sanding process is to fill the gaps between the boards. This process will keep the whole construction insulated. When the gaps were filled, buffing service is required, to smooth the surface and remove even the smaller imperfections. Before the sealant, our team had to spread the light oak stain all over the floor. For the final step we used 4 coats of the durable ‘Junckers HP Commercial’ lacquer in a satin sheen. This product is water-based, which means it’s fast drying and non-yellowing. The complete transformation of the flooring impressed even our guys, it took them 2 days to restore the natural beauty of these pine floorboards.
