Prefinished or Unfinished Wood Flooring?

Solid hardwood flooring comes in both finished or unfinished varieties, but engineered wood flooring is always pre-finished. Finally, surface veneer is never an issue with laminate flooring, because its finish is built into the single blocks.
Prefinished vs. unfinished is a big deal and can be source of quite a hassle. Perhaps you think you can save big by buying un-finished hardwood and either try and seal it yourself or have it sealed, but you might want to consider the following:

• Pre-finished hardwood comes with several layers of flawless, factory-applied sealant.
• Since sealants have been applied under controlled conditions by the manufacturer itself, the result is significantly superior to what you may attain with all the dust, fine dirt, pet hair etc. that contaminate the sealant during DIY unstallation and finishing.
• The manufacturer certainly knows better what needs doing than any DIY enthusiast.

Our advice: pre-finished flooring will save you from all the hassle.
